Forgiveness Makes Love Grow

Scripture   Luke 7:36 -8:3

Reading

From the time I came in she has not stopped kissing my feet.

You did not anoint my head, Simon, with oil,

but she has anointed my feet with ointment.

Therefore I tell you,

her sins, which were many, have been forgiven;

hence she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.

Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven.... Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

"Your sins are forgiven".The weeping woman has had so tremendous an experience of Jesus' unconditional love,and thus of her healing that touched the very depths of her being,that she can do nothing but weep:it has been so unimagined, so unexpected, so purifying that it is like starting all over again. All she wants to do is express her love and gratitude to Jesus.Jesus does not put himself above her by saying:"I forgive you your sins"("who will throw the first stone?") .She knows within, that the forgiveness comes with the healing.Jesus goes that extra step to confirm that Reality is God's Love and Forgiveness. It comes with Life, to those who are open to the Spirit!
